Palentina Mountain Natural Park
Within the Palentina Mountain there is an area of almost 80,000 hectares where fauna, flora and a multitude of towns have historically coexisted. Hunting, fishing and all activities related to the mountains come together in this extensive territory that, unlike other natural parks, has as a reference characteristic the presence of the brown bear. There are temporarily delimited areas to protect the reproduction and life of this animal that is gradually recovering its number of individuals. Located between the Pisuerga River and the Carrión River, it is the habitat of griffon vultures, golden eagles, chamois, roe deer, wolves, wild boars, deer and, more rarely, the aforementioned brown bear and much more rare, almost invisible, the capercaillie.
